There was whiff of tardy service at the Sterland Ster Kenikor on my visit there just recently. A while back there was some buzz about the place. There were attendants ready to assist you. Now if you want to buy a ticket you are forced to queue with those who want to buy popcorn. Often this causes long lines and slow service. Luckily New Metro has just opened at the now revamped Sunnypark; those of us who do not want to be taken for granted will try there.
The movie I came to watch at Ster Kenikor was terribly bad. This was the new Mr Bones 2.
Still on the matter of service, the Shoprite near me requires that we leave our bags at the door when we enter. This shop fears that we might steal, and our understanding makes us then to oblige by dropping our bags. But the problem I want to raise right now is that we sometimes have to queue to leave these bags. At Shoprite you queue for everything. I am now thinking why should I tolerate this inconvenience?
It was this month that I turned 34. Next year I will be a major birthday, I guess – a multiple of five! Maybe I will also get married. But before I do that, I intend embarking on a trip by road to Tanzania. So many people have expressed their good wishes on my birthday, thanks largely to the existence of Facebook. Facebook has really been the newsmaker of the past 12 months or so.
Orlando Stadium is almost 99% complete and the Soweto teams, Orlando Pirates, Moroka Swallows and Kaizer Chiefs decided to play their games there in recent weeks. Chiefs hosted Golden Arrows in a bid to revenge a 4 nil drubbing by Arrows in a Telkom Cup. Arrows went to this match unbeaten, but it was always going to be difficult to resist a determined Chiefs that was backed by a raucous capacity crowd. Indeed Arrows gave in the second half. Chiefs won by 1 goal. But we only watched the second half of this game, because our ladies or at least one of them was late. The ladies enjoyed the razzmatazz immensely. Akhona confessed to us that going to a live soccer match was virgin territory for her which she enjoyed a lot and that she won’t miss a soccer match when invited.
